Christmas!

My eldest son Matthew has given me some Alice in Wonderland stamps for Christmas - he also gave me a pretty fairy boarder and two lovely fairies sitting gazing (and a necklace) what a spoilt Mum I am :)  here they are "raw" I have coloured them in using some watercolour pencils (thanks Eileen for telling Vicky about them!) now I need to think how to best mount them - I'll post it when it is done.

New Ideas!!

I saw this on Create and Craft today and had to have a go!!, take your acrylic stamp block and push it onto your Big and Juicy pad.
Lift it up and spritz with water and then push down onto some paper
It makes a brilliant background and also you can stamp out some beautiful coloured shapes!!

..hours of fun because each blot is different!

This is another idea I saw.  When I bought these templates /masks I was a bit disappointed with the results I got, but to my surprise I found out that you can emboss with them as well!!

Take one template

Make a sandwich of Tab 1, cutting plate, template, paper, no more shims mat and then the other cutting plate,

 Hey Presto!!

Sharing ideas

Hi, Eileen took one of my ideas and expanded on it to make an even nicer card! so not to be out done I've taken  my idea, inspired by her idea to come up with another idea :)

My second card I'll show you was just a bit of playing around, I hope you like it!

I also had a play around with my hydrangea big and juicy and some Lavinia stamps

more playtime

I have got some cool holographic paper, so I decided to put it to work with a flower stamp and hydrangea big an juicy stamp pad.

I was naughty and got some more nestabilities and also a black embossing pen with some super sparkly black embossing powder, this makes layering easier with an awkward shape.

so so naughty. I got this embossing folder and went over it with purple twilight and then edged in black sparkly embossing
For this last card I used my lovely lavinia stamps and my big and juicy spice for the leaves.  Fairies coming home after a hard days work!

cards begun!

I have been fiddling around with some new stamps and have come up with these two pictures, but I have not had a chance to mount them on anything yet - still I thought you might like a look.
I love the fairies hiding in this butterfly!
I am going to finish the birds wings with mica powders to make them reflect and also to make it a bit more "Magical!" the stamps are from an Inkadinkado set

Weekend Crafting

No rugby this weekend as everybody has colds, it is like a sick house in here!! anyway a good excuse to sit quietly and craft.  Here are 2 of the cards I made - I'll post more in the week.

The Christmas wreath was made by using the leaf stamp that came with the fairy door stamp (if you see what I mean!!) I repeated the pattern in meadow and citrus in a circle and added some gems and then that fantastic ribbon.

The dandelion card.  I used the bigshot to cut out the shape and then brayered and stamped the negative of the shape, I then used the cut out part and masked the centre so that I could brayer the outside to make the frame, I then finished it off with a smaller Lavinia dandelion stamp.  The boys want me to make more man cards, I think this could be one, but they are boring!!

Latest Efforts!

I watched a video yesterday and this is my attempt at re-creating one of the cards on it - so I can't take credit for the idea, but I am quite pleased with the outcome!
It is mounted on some wonderful paper I found in my local craft store "The Craft Barn" I'm like a kid in a sweetshop every time I go in!.  The script stamp has proved very useful.

Thursday 11 November 2010

What fun with new stamps!!  I have been making a mixture of both Christmas and non Christmas cards as I am thinking of doing a local fair, although I have not a clue what to charge it should be fun, and a way of me making room :)

With this card, I decoupaged the corset from a set that I already had and added some of the stamps that Eileen gave me.  I mounted it on this beautifully soft backing paper and tore the edges to give it that fluffy girly feel.
I've had this flourish a while and not quite known what to do with it.  I brayered some card and stamped it in the corner, but didn't like the rest of the look of the paper, so I cut it out and there it lay abandoned for a while until I decided that, when turned upside down it looked like a latch to a door?! So continuing the blue and white theme I ended up with this.

Using the same flourish I over printed on the same spot without re-inking and got this effect, which I though was quite elegant, and therefore needed an elegant lady to set it off.

Now on to Christmas with Eileens Stamps - Thank you again so much.

This Santa did take quite a while to colour - but great fun :)

overload

I am unable to post any blogs because my mate Eileen, gave me such a big bag of goodies I don't know where to start :) so there has been a lot of random stamping and colouring going on - soon there should be some results!! I cannot thank you enough Eileen for the support you have given me.

30's Style!

Hi there

I've been playing around with some 1920/30's influence stamps.  I just love this era of sophistication and elegance.

And I am also determined to get this matting and layering sorted out :) and also laying out the cards in different ways - anyway I do hope you like my latest efforts.

Saturday 6 November 2010

Hi - yet more new stamps - this is becoming an obsession! I love these ones so elegant as well as amusing and they give me a chance to play with my pro markers.  I wish I was better at matting and layering, love doing the stamps etc but I am rubbish at mounting them - anyway I hope you like these.

There are some more in the pack I will play with when I get a chance.  xx

New Stamp

YEY! The latest stamp from Little Claire arrived and I've had fun playing with it.  The card they give you to make in the pack is fantastic, but I've had a couple of other ideas :)

I've put some sparkle on her fur trim, but it doesn't show up too much.

I also had a play with some ribbon too! The frame hangs from the ribbon so gives it some separate movement from the picture behind.

It still amazes me how little time it takes to make some of these cards.  Yes some take hours, and yet others are a matter of minuets, especially if you have the idea in your head.

Many of my friends say they don't have time, well I disagree, we all make time for the things we want to do in life and I look at this as time spent purely on myself and no one else.  Yes all my mates will end up fit and beautiful, but they'll come to me for their cards :) - that's my rant over for the day.... I think :)

Happy Halloween

Still not eating :( still it's good for the waist line :)
This is one of my latest efforts, it started life completely unplanned but I think it's turned out quite well.  I brayered the background with Citrus and Purple Twilight, then a Lavinia Flourish stamp and little butterflies. I added more flourishes to the mounting card and then added the finished topper to it on mounting pads and added a bow.

28th October 2010

Hi, still not feeling so good, but the crafting is definitely helping :)

I had a go at a cutsie handbag card today. This is not usually my sort of thing, but I saw a template on TV and decided that I could do it myself! and here is the result! A touch over the top but I think it is quite fun and I may have a go at a more toned down version for some birthday cards.

My new Flying Santa stamp arrived today and so I made good use of it with a multitude of cards, here is my favourite. With this stamp it is so easy to take a card and make it Christmassy. I love they way that Rudolph is looking back at the others as if to say "you ok back there!" My Lavinia Stamps fairy house and fir trees finish it off. I much prefer to use the fir tree stamp rather than a Christmas tree one as it seems more authentic.

I treated myself (AGAIN) to some nesties and played around with a very simple card, I thought that it would be nice to do a Christmas card in an unusual colour, it has not come out so well in the picture, but it is a lavender coloured card. I was trying to keep simplicity in mind and I love the sentiments. I had already got the words with another set of stamps and didn't know what to do with them as they are so small, so I'm pleased I've found a place for them.

This is one of my favourite cards of my latest batch. I originally distressed and printed the tag but didn't like what I'd done on the reverse - this sorted the problem!!

I'll end on a bit of bling!! this die cut never seems to cut properly through my bigshot no matter how many times I run it through, so this time after putting it through 3 times, where the little holes should have been I stuck some bling  and made them hover - I'm debating whether to leave it like this or to ad some random bling behind them maybe in a vine shape pattern - don't know I'll have to ponder :)

Bye xx

26/10/10

My number one son came down from Uni at the weekend and that combined with a tummy bug has curtailed my card making.  However although I'm still on the dry toast, I thought it best to take my mind off the matter and get crafting!

First off I printed a fantastic script stamp in "London Fog" grey I have and then added a kissing couple (I love this stamp it is so romantic) over the top, then I used distressed inks round the edge.  The backing card was a pre-formed blank but it has the most beautiful ragged edging,

Next I had a play with using 2 nestabilities shapes together in the bigshot to make a frame, I then broke out the distress ink and then printed a swirly pattern over the top.  For the inside I decided it would be too difficult to line everything up, so I took the discarded insert, distressed it and used part of a stamp I have of a lady perched on a bench - I then went over bits of it with Mica powder to give it a hidden shimmer. The frame has two foam pads on it to give it the extra depth I felt it needed as the colours were so close. Lastly a bow and a few swirls round the edge - although now I'm not so sure I should have done them!!

The last card is one that I have made quite often and the one that most people pinch out of my stash :) I like the idea of looking through the foliage to a focal point behind.  I brayered the edges with sail boat blue and stamped in denim.

23rd October

I've been producing cards like mad!! yesterday I played around with embossing paper with my cuttlebug embossing folder, wiping ink over to bring out the pattern then flip and turn the paper and re-emboss, I love the effect!!

I am really a stamp and brayer lover and this is one of the cards that I am quite proud of

This blog is really just for me to remember what I've done and also the pleasure that I have had out of crafting, I've not done it in this form for very long and so it is a learning curve with more cards being thrown away than saved but it is such good fun :)
